Out-of-Band Power Management

Most switched PDUs provide remote power management to equipment, while the network is fully operational. The Tracker PDU has been designed to operate in situations where the network is not operational, or in extremely remote locations that have no network connectivity except for a standard (PSTN) phone line.

To secure the PDU against unwanted attacks, it can be programmed with up to 4 numbers (wildcards accepted) to validate against the Caller ID of the inbound call. Calls with invalid numbers will be dropped. Successful callers will be asked to supply a username and 16 character password.

Where equipment, such as a router, may need reconfiguration work to get it, and the rest of the network operational again. The Tracker PDU supports a talkthru connection between its modem and console port. Enabling the PDU to act as a gateway between the remote technician and the console port of the local equipment.

The Tracker PDU is easy to locate. It can be left free standing or wall mounted. It will fit into a 19" rack in either a 1.5U horizontal position or a 0U vertical position.
