Eclipse DQ v2.0 is an online directory software application to help you conduct people searches. It's more than just an online phonebook. Eclipse DQ is about importing data from multiple sources, such as Active Directory, Personnel databases and manually edited spreadsheets and presenting it in a single consolidated view.
Online Directory Software For Your Intranet
The People Search Problem
In a large organisation, one with a few hundred employees and multiple buildings, situated across a campus or different geographic locations; finding information about a colleague can be a challenge. That's why a staff directory, made available on an Intranet becomes such a neccesity but presents its own set of challenges.
It is not uncommon for large organisations to have multiple sources of directory information. No single source holds the complete profile of a user's entry in the directory. While security barriers may restrict users providing updates or customising entries to make them more useful.
Sources of directory information
Personnel databases may be a key provisioning trigger for a directory entry but hold too much sensitive information for general access.
IT departments hold the Active Directory to administer those users with access to the Network.
Telephone directories may hold phone number and extension assignments, including the people who are not listed in Active Directory because IT access is not required as part of their job.
There may be other records of project assignments, additional contact methods, building locations and more.
Collating and organising all of this information to enable people to conduct searches can present significant challenges.
Eclipse DQ - Your Intranet Staff Directory
Using Eclipse DQ, your organisation can overcome these challenges.
Provide a single consolidated view of your directory information by importing selected fields from multiple data sources into Eclipse DQ.
Allow users to perform people searches that will return results in less than a second using either the web portal or Windows application.
User customisable fields enable Eclipse DQ to import relevant user profile data from other databases within the organisation, or make it possible to add new data not stored in other databases.
Define more meaningful relationships between directory members with group hierarchies that extend beyond the traditional departmental structures. Create direct relationships that link one directory member to another.
Keep directory information relevant; allow users to keep their own directory information updated. Fine grained controls determine what information directory members see and what information they can update.
Centrally store time sensitive user notes from members or operators, addresses and other procedural documentation for easier retrievel by staff.
Monitor directory usage via search, admin and system audit logs.
Data Import & Export
Wizards are available to help import and export your data. Data can be imported from a comma or tab delimited file or from an LDAP database such as Active Directory. You can save import profiles that include field mappings and how to treat data that exists in both source and target databases. These can be used to make subsequent imports from the same source much faster. Data can be exported back to the CSV format.
